I'm Jithma Chandranath,
I enjoy designing and consulting people on design for comfort.
Seven years designing digital products, currently leading UX at Altrium. Outside of that I build brand identities, consult on interiors, and write about all of it — most of it rooted in Galle.
The path
How it went
Galle
Where it starts
Born and raised in Galle in a family of five, schooled at Richmond College. A fort town of lime-washed walls and terracotta tile, built for shade and sea air. I did not know it was teaching me proportion at the time.
School days
Graphic design, before it was a job
I was drawing marks and setting type well before anyone called it a career. Never much for the academic side — what I had was an eye, and the patience to keep redoing something until it sat right.
SLIIT
BSc in Information Technology
I took the creative instinct and pointed it at software. That combination — knowing how the thing is built and caring how it looks — has been the whole basis of my work since.
2019 — now
UX Engineer → Associate UX Lead
Started as a UX Engineer, spent time at Virtusa, and now lead UX at Altrium. Seven years in. Lately most of my thinking is about agentic and autonomous systems: how a person stays in control of software that acts for them.
Alongside
Identity, interiors, and everything else
Brand work never stopped. Interiors came later, out of helping people fix rooms that were not comfortable to live in. Both are the same job: make it calm, make it work, make it worth looking at.
Now
Colombo, with Galle intact
I moved to Colombo to widen the work. The house in Galle stays. So does the reason for all of it — I want to build things I can look back on and smile about, and I want the people around me living well.
